Expert software marketer, Gary Guseinov, chief executive officer, and Igor Barash, chief information officer, co-founded the company known today as CyberDefender Corporation in 2003 when they began publishing a series of software utilities. In early 2005, the team acquired its own proprietary technology with the purchase of CyberDefender from Bing Liu. As the creator of award-winning product First Aid for Windows and the holder of seven technology patents, Liu's next-generation, patent-pending technology was pivotal, with focus toward broad-spectrum computer threat management.
Early CyberDefender Success
By the time of the acquisition, CyberDefender was already a proven technology. While designed as an end-to-end technology for all types of threats, CyberDefender (then known as Cyber-Defender) had been focused on infectious attacks, or viruses. It became a popular Internet download, building a large network of users. By January of 2006, Wendy McCulley was appointed chief marketing officer, and Mark Laing joined the company as vice president of sales. Guseinov remains CEO, and Igor Barash, CIO.
